The Burren is an area of limestone pavements and features which are unlike any other area of Ireland. The Turlochs (temporary lakes) appear and disappear, so it never looks the same from one week to the next. The limestone forms geometric shapes and unusual plants grow in the grooves (or grykes) between them. Despite its barren appearance, there is a lot of wildlife to be seen here. Part of the Burren is a National Park. In May, wildflowers are in flower. A fantastic place for photographers.
