So this is the answer to last night's question.

Like some of you I thought they were fossils when I first saw them but in fact they are "cakes" of yeast that is apparently used for making rice wine. All I can say is that they must make a heck of a lot of it as this was one of 2 or 3 stalls at Kalimpong market selling them and as you can see there are plenty of them.
So far as I know, the fern imprints are just for decoration.
So there you have it.
Just a bit of fun.

I'd never have guessed, Jason, had it not been for the clue about bread. It's so much more beautiful than the instant yeast I use for breadmaking. Love those ferns on it too. Well done for making such an enjoyable image from them.

Interesting--- one has to use whatever they have to bring to an image--- yeast comes in rectangular cakes to my mind
