... or at least that's what I think it is unless anybody knows better. I liked the drops of dew on the hairs.

Thank's for your C&C's on the cockchafer - glad the Dame Edna comparison made a few of you chuckle. GrinGrin

I have been experimenting with focus stacking and this is my first usable result - 34 images stacked in Helicon. I will be very interested in your views.

Thanks for looking
Jason

What a wonderful approach and quality image, Jason! The light, the whirl and the hairs are excellent.
The UA is not reciprocal. Your shot deserves it much more than mine.

Ade Osman's the stacking expert, Jason...may well be worth giving him a nudge for expert opinion.
I will refrain as I haven't got the foggiest as to how this stacks up (get it? that was a pun...) OK, I won't give up the day job, anyway it pays too well.
Great to see you experimenting mate.

Impressive stuff, Jason. Your focus stacking looks a good result to me, something I would like to try also, the fine hairs are very well demarcated.

I think you've chosen a difficult subject for first attempts at stacking Jason.
One of our members is a stacking expert. He uses a rack to move the focus plane.
I try stacking flowers but don't think my tripod is steady enough.
Our expert chills insects in fridge before taking the photos!!!
