Another shot of the Currick on Knapside Hill above my home, taken just before sunset. The Currick is defined as a chambered cairn which contains a burial, also it has been suggested some may just have been prehistoric horizon markers. Quite a few of them are dotted about in the landscape here, not all of them mark a summit or horizon which tends to suggest they contain a burial. Who knows what may lie under this one, maybe an urn with the remains of some local tribal leader.

A nice rocky lead in to stumble over while reaching the summit John. Nice composition and, though it must have been cold up there, you have given this a warm feel.

Cold, bleak, desolate for a resting place. the golden light on the left-hand foreground stones only adds to the coldness. Strong image.

Seizing the moment to perfection once again, John. Perhaps a Cumbrian Barbarossa or Arthur awaits the call beneath the cairn......
Bill

A very interesting write up about this mound of rocks, which make me see it in a completely different light.
You have a wonderful DoF & I like how the sun is just catching the foreground rocks.
