Something a little different for me... but its what you do when you are fed up of blue skies.. you explore, Grin

I was introduced to Cathedral Cave in the Langdales last week.. I was not expecting this when I was told we were going to a cave! Its an amazing place.. will let Wiki describe it Smile

Quote: Cathedral Quarries
Cathedral Quarries (Grid NY308028), a set of disused inter-linked quarries for green slate, is above the valley in Atkinson Coppice. The quarry site is now managed by the National Trust and can be entered by the public. It features various chambers and tunnels, including one which is 400 feet (120 m) long. The quarry's main attraction, 'The Cathedral', is a 40-foot (12 m) high main chamber lit by two windows with a huge rock pillar supporting the roof. Some of the quarry smaller chambers are closed off for safety or have already collapsed. The quarry features at least 25 named rock climbing routes that are graded Extreme and are 30–40 m long.[11][12] The spoil heaps from these mines form large banks where silver birch and larch now grow.

Nicely composed, Jeanie.

I think a little more contrast and bit of sharpening wouldn't hurt this at all.
I've uploaded a mod to demonstrate:
Duplicate layer; soft light; opacity 25%.
Smart sharpen around 120%, 0.3, 0

Hope you approve! Smile

Cracking shot !!!.....not easy to get a decent shot in this cave, with the extremes of contrast from the light, but this
one's a great shot !!....nicely composed too !!

Hodge- Close Quarries is the other name for it.......a fascinating place to explore !!!

Jeanie great colours and textures

I love the colours in this photo. I've been to Cathedral Quarry and it is a magical place, but really challenging to photograph.
