Superb image - but I am sure I will be quite alone in this, why on earth the mono treatment?

The real beauty of KF's is their amazing colour (and their rarity I guess) - so I think this is a top notch image but my click is for the image and not the post production.

Very eyecatching despite the (obvious!!) distinct lack of colour. I think it works well in mono - strangely maybe as they are such a colourful bird. Perhaps it could be because it is so 'not the norm'!! Well done, Louise

Thanks for the comments, I too love the colour of the kingisher and just wanted too see peoples comments on the black and white picture as I find the feather detail in this shot stunning. I will be posting the original tomorrow.

Kingfishers are such wonderful coloured birds I assumed that colour would be the only medium to portray the bird to it's full advantage.

I was wrong as this is a superb presentation and deserves much credit for your bold step.

have to say I agree the KF being a beautifully coloured bird why process in mono?
