A really top notch woodpecker shot, the detail in the plumage being immaculate, the subject filling the frame so nicely.

Oh my, what a cracker. A superb composition with amazing detail in the plumage and light in the eye. My eye does tend to travel over to the branch top right and I would have been tempted to remove it in PS, but that's just my opinion, you have a fantastic shot here that I would be most proud to have taken.

I agree with Barbara, but you have got something special here otherwise John. I also like the green leaves bottom left, it gives more of a natural feel for me, not just a bird on a stick (good as they might be otherwise).

Away to Wales week after next where there is a resident woody. Hopefully I can get one half this good.
Regards
Daryl

Very well exposed Jeb and good side on detail with lots of environment to add to the image without detracting from the Woody. The eye is spot on.
I would try it with the small piece of wood top right cloned out and just a very small 1mm white border rather than an internal one and have the EPZ background in black to show this fine capture of better.

Super capture and great eye detail especially. I would agree with others that the small isolated branch top right could go, but its a fine shot whatever.
