I read an article about the Harlequin Ladybird a while ago, and I saw something like this the other day crawling across our yard. The body was a dark blue but the orange horsehoe pattern on the back was the same. Had I known it was a harlequin I would have trod on it.
Thanks for your kind comments - I just took this with my 'new' 5D as a bit of a try-out. I wasn't really trying for anything particular but was pleased with the result. The camera was an ebay bargain. He might be cute and lovely but crikey he doesn't have whinge and whine.

Nice to see a group portrait, and unusual to see one with such dramatic moody lighting shooting into the sun - great use of fill in flash. And whatever you have digitally manipulated adds to the effect.
