A friend bought these for me the other day and they are coming out nicely now, but they are not the easiest flower for photography because they're so long; in fact the individual flowers can make easier subjects.

Was going to leave on a plain white background but then decided to play with a few textures and edging layers.

Excellent focus and use of texture--
another time perhaps a diagonal commposition would help with the length problem!

Not easy but you've made a beautiful presentation of this flower, the background works so well.

Thanks for all the C&Cs, as ever your time, comments and votes much appreciated ............ I have taken some diagonally across the image but somehow it doesn't look right or I feel the space top left and bottom right needs something extra to fill that void; mind you I do sometimes have to stop myself 'filling' spaces that don't always need filling; will have to try playing with a diagonal shot and see what happens.

Set yourself a challenge Jenni. Well captured and I think in this instance the vertical works, gladioli can look off balance on the diagonal, depending on the placement of the flowers. You might have to move round the flower a fair bit to get it just right! Lovely colours and detail.

Glad you kept as much flower as you did and IMHO the textured background was the way to go. Subtle and effective.
