One of our Oriental Poppies just opened, you can just about still see the creases. I did not think I would get any images of this poppy in our garden, just managed this one but the next day winds and rain had torn it to piecesSad

I decided not to add a border and leave the poppy to stand alone.

Grateful thanks to recent comments and votes and to Nonur and Moiral who gave their User Award to Jiminy yesterday.

Regards
Carole

Absolutely beautiful shot, Carole, and I would agree you were right to let it 'stand alone' especially with the black background which is perfect, and it just doesn't need anything else.

Presenting it this way, emerging borderless from the black, is excellent with this poppy: very well done, Carole.

I love those crinkly petals - you've captured the poppy so well Carole! At the moment the wind is howling around my tiny piece of garden and the poppy petals are flying off in all directions. Sad

Never seen so many creases since my frilly shirt I wore at the disco on Saturday,Carole.
No problem with the wind and rain, but as soon as I was on the dance floor and started my John Travolta routine,
the girls were up trying to tear my shirt to pieces.
(And least I think it was my shirt they were trying to tear to pieces !!)
Good shot.
Mick.

This works SO well without a border. A poppy emerging from the darkness.

So well photographed, Carole, and I love the crinkly paperiness of the petals Smile
