Nice shot. Two tips I have always found useful.

1) Never shoot into the sun - always have the sun behind you. It avoids blown out skies and helps you avoid too harsh a shadow on your subject

2) If you HAVE to shoot into the sun (Or your shooting a backlit subject) use the flash to correctly expose your subject.
