This is Cyril. He has had, by most peoples standards, what you would refer to as a hard life. He lives alone and remains in a home that has been his since it was built. He has many health problems, but refuses to give up his independance. Change is not something Cyril likes, and Cyril knows his own mind.

I looked at his and was impressed the first time I saw it for many reasons and I've been back many times since.
Partly because I think you've done a good job with it technically, in other words the composition, exposure and focus etc. are as I think they should be but more importantly because of the way in which the image portrays Cyril's character.
You can see the intensity of the emotion in his expression.
If you hadn't pointed out how independent he is, I would have guessed it from just looking at this shot. As a character study, it's excellent. The slightly grubby jumper and fraying collar become insignificant by comparison to the strength in his expression.
For some reason the shot hasn't garnered a lot of votes, which to be honest, doesn't surprise me, however, it does get mine and my Member's Award.
Jester.

Think you have done a great job in this capture, the details and lighting and tones all work well.
Deserves more attention but not always the case some times.
Regards Richard
