“St. Mary's church is largely of the 15th and 16th centuries but the spire was not added until 1632. The churchyard is famed for it's 99 yew trees which were planted around 1792. It is said that every time a hundredth tree is planted it dies.” (Painswick Tourist Information Guide)” Another legend says the Devil pulled out the hundredth tree. Who can you believe these days!!!!!!!!!

Different views of Painswick handsome buildings taken from the churchyard in the early morning light last Monday.

(f11 1/60th zoom @50mm polarising filter)

Thank you for all the comments and choosing V1 as the best of the two photos. Hoping you’ll enjoy this little tour of the churchyard.

Have a nice day hoping you’ll get the sun like here in Gloucestershire,

Jean-Noël

Lovely set of images JNC, so much work must go into looking after these trees. A Yew tree in my village was reputed to be nearly 400 years old,

Love the curious smooth but individual shapes of the trees, they look like giant lollipops. And those fabulous inky shadows...
