Deep in the countryside of Taiwan surrounded by mountains and in a beautiful scenery at the beginning of the Meiya Valley at Longtoushan , a small road for scooters and bicycles leads to this 232 meters long and 103 meters high suspension bridge.
It was built in the time of the Japanese occupation and was of great importance at the time to link Duona village to Maolin village and the rest of the region.
This bridge is known as the “Lover's Bridge” as it was the place where people used to said goodbye to their family or lover as they were leaving to find work in the large cities of Taiwan. The local people say it is a bridge of many tears for those whose lovers or relatives did not return home when expected.
The views from the bridge are simply breathtaking. If you suffer from vertigo this is definitely not the place for you.
