Duona village is an interesting settlement situated in a valley surrounding by mountains covered with green lush vegetation. 90% of the population in Duona originate from the Rukai Tribe. There are about 600 people living in Duona village.

Many cultural features of the Rukais are unchanged: language, the use of the lily flower, rituals, symbols and idols representing the tribe, clothing style, wedding ceremony, and specific houses made of flat stones.

Duona village has kept its original feel because of its location deep in the
mountain. When you first step into the village, sculptures of symbols and
stone houses can be seen everywhere.

According to the Legend, the Rukai people settled here because on numerous occasions their hunting dogs would not return to the old village. After some extensive discussions between the tribal members, they decided to move to the present location .

Today is the first part of walk around the village to show some buildings, houses, sculpted symbols.

A good set of images, I especially like V3 for the bright colours and detail. V7 also a favourite, it shows the other side of village life.
