I’m very chuffed with your response with my latest up-load. Thank you.
Here is another of those beautiful butterfly waking up slowy in the morning sun.
At the start of winter (in December) in Taiwan, about a million butterflies migrate to the island's warmer southern regions to escape the season's cool winds. There are quite a few places where you can see them but Maolin in Kaohsiung County is the most famous place. Wherever you go in this attractive area, the sight of hundreds of thousands of milkweed/crow butterflies with purple wings is a real thrill. Trying to take a photo is a different story as they do not keep still. This one was very obliging but I surprised him as he was still asleep on a very large leaf. He soon woke up as I got near and flew away.
Maolin, nestled at the foot of the Central Mountain Range, remains remarkably in a pristine state. It is the smallest town in Taiwan in terms of population, with about 2,000 inhabitants. These people belong to the Rukai and Paiwan aboriginal tribes who have remained close to nature.
