In the second gorge of the Katherine river the boat stops and you have to walk 800m or so. On the way you have nice views on the cliffs but also access to some fine Javoyn rock art dating a few hundred years on the sandstone walls (V3 and V4).
Aboriginal rock art is part of a tradition of painting and engraving that stretches back thousands of years.
