I nailed this Marbled White Melanargia galathea, just over an hour ago.

A decent evening for a change, so it was straight in from work and off to Twywell.
Spotted a few of these in one of their enclaves, but went for a good walk about and by the time I returned to this spot, there were a dozen or so roosting up.
Not that easy to get at thoughWink

A fine shot indeed, well detailed and merits Ade's award (which we all know is VERY special)
strange they sit on these flowers, here they never go for those.. they prefer clover and scabious.

A belter, Adrian, and what a very complementary flower it has chosen to perch on. Glad to hear that you had a decent evening, about time, too Wink Carol

Wonderful details and textures. Sadly there have been no sightings of any sort of butterflies around here of late, thanks to "summer" weather!

Great shot.

David

Don't think I saw more than 12 butterflies during the whole of last year, and the way the weather is going, could be a similar story this year as well.
