To me this looks like trees in stormy, other-world landscape.
Same basic treatment as yesterday's upload but toned with different colours.

K - yes, it is marks in the sand left by water running down the beach after the tide has receded.
Alfred - the original images have very low contrast. I used hisotogram adjustment to extend the tonal range and to expand the contrast. I then toned the result - in this case with a coloured layer consisting of blue, green and brown tones.
