I don't do many square crops but I do think the format can concentrate a subject within an image and reckon it does it here.

I'm heading to this location on Friday but don't expect the weather to be as favourable as it was this particular evening.

Last upload for a while, so hope you all have a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year and thanks for all the support you have given me.

Excellent image, John. As you mention, the square format works very well here. Ideally composed with fine detail, good colour tones & contrast throughout.

I'm mellowing with age, like a fine old wine. Now you mention it though, there is a bright pebble just to the left of the top two bars on the bench .... I'd clone that out Wink

Ahaa, it's not a pebble but an empty fag packet, there is also a discarded beer tin as well in frame, all left in for authenticism of the Scottish highlands..Wink

Now that's a very fine image, John!
The quality of light is exceptional, and the (almost) square format works really well to enhance the composition.
If I didn't know better, I'd have said it could've been Wyoming!
Cheers
Bill

Thanks all, there has only been a couple of ocassions in my 2 years of taking up photography where I've felt all the elements have conspired together for that magic photographic moment, a brief 45 minutes here being one and an hour on Skye being the other. I think my ability with the camera has done them some sort of justice.
Cheers,
John

Cheers Darren, I've actually got over two weeks off from work and will be at home but I intend to spend a morning in Glencoe on the travel down then a gang of us are spending New Year in Glencoe again climbing hills and getting swallied in the Clachaig Inn for a few nights. There will no doubt be a bit of photography in there but I'm wanting to ween myself of the computer a bit more and spend time with the family and friends.
Hope you have a good break, all the best,
John

The late afternoon light brings out the warm colours of winter in Glencoe. You would only spend a few minutes on the bench, perhaps to tighten the laces on your boots.
