Petromarula pinnata,or rock lettuce, is endemic to Crete, can be found during April and May, and is a member of the campanula family. It grows high up in rock crevices, on cliffs and on old walls. The leaves are edible and can be used like lettuce.

Mornin' Carol,
A bit like our Dandelions, though I don't think many folks eat the leaves these days

Just waiting for the sun to burn off the overnight frost (it is May) and then I'm off to Twywell on the Skipper hunt (again)
For once the air is till with no breeze

A stunning flower Carol and a very fancy name for lettuce!
I wonder how many people know and eat all the edible leaves.
I was amazed at all the wild herbs I saw in Santorini.

Very unusual, and it's V2 for me, so many flowers (or parts of them) are edible, I'm only just learning about them myself.
