Cartway is a very narrow street linking High and Low town in Bridgnorth. There were a number of cottages built into the sandstone rock most of which were
deserted many years ago. The walls were festooned with Virginia Creeper, and this is an example. The street, with a right angled bend half way down was the route from the quay on the banks of the Severn into the high town, and was used by donkey carts.
