Eastern hemlock (Tsuga canadensis), also called Canada hemlock or hemlock spruce, is a slow-growing long-lived tree which unlike many conifers grows well in shade. Hemlock may take 250 to 300 years to reach maturity and may live for 800 years or more. It's main use in the forest industry is for making pulp for manufacture of paper.

I thought of you yesterday - we were out with our U3A Photography group and one lady is doing a project on photographing trees...
Lovely image here, about life clinging to the earth.
I know what you mean about my upload - I've put a response. F4.8 was the widest aperture available at the focal length that I needed for the composition that I wanted... Why is life so full of compromises...? I have another shot of the same couple with a different gravestone, and they are much more blurred in that one!

Not many of that size left around here now, except in parks, really enjoying your take on all the trees around you Joline, of which there sure are plenty, unless the forestry industry has been as busy as up here since i was last there in 1991!
