These two beech are suffering from beech scale disease. I felt rather sad seeing them appearing to support each other. These trees should come down, but since they are on unmanaged land, they will probably die as they stand.

Un managed land sounds good--- The phone company has been preparing to run a new line near us-- clear cutting a 30 foot swath for easier maintenance--- heaps of cut trees line the road, lawns , etc.

Sad to see the beeches dying!
