The Jay (garrulus glandarius)
Delighted to get this shot of the Jay as I have not been able to get near enough to one for quite a long time. I was even more pleased to get this particular pose as I do think it shows the birds plumage to very much the best advantage; and I also like the over the shoulder turn of the head.
Hope you like it.
As always I do appreciate all the c/c's given to the Great Tit

another of my faves Ron ! beautiful colour and i agree about the over the shoulder glance
The pose shows the plumage well, but also gives a good shape to the bird for a lovely balanced composition.

A great pose - with so many of those wonderful blue feathers captured ![]()

well you got every reason to be chuffed with this one! Excellent detail and colours.. well done on the awards!
I agree i like the pose, its a bird i have seen a few times but not been able to get a decent shot off. But ill keep trying nice image though
A real belter Ron, you've really excelled yourself here. The detail and colours in the plumage are first class and your avian model is striking quite a pose for the camera
Quote: A beautiful capture of this shy bird Ron - as you say the pose shows the jay at its best.
Brian.
My thoughts too Ron, haven't seen one in ages,
Geoff,
I have a pair in the garden, they are quite tame - or cheeky - can feed them from the hand. Beautiful birds.
