A change of track tonight after Irishkate asked me what sort of images I show at my camera club.I realised early on there that my rust and grot would ''bomb'' after I scored 8 out of 20 for one of them.I do realise that they are nothing more than ''record shots'' and it is images such as the one here that I can manage to score 17 out of 20 with !!

Ah yes, camera clubs, a weird form of masochism. Super shot though.
Ah yes, this was bound to do well in C.C. - and I agree with Gary that the judge that night was stingey. It's a wonderful image, Mick, with everything going for it - lighting, composition, p.o.v., perspective and a beaut range of grey tones. No need to say, for me it's a winner ![]()

This is excellent Mick, a super composition with great detail,
Fred.
I am rather surprised* to find that beneath the grotty casual exterior you normally present, there lurks an actual photographic artist !
Nice one, Mick, a really excellent composition.
I have yet to venture into the world of camera club competition - to be honest, I'm pretty sure most of my stuff would just get laughed out the door and life is tough enough with letting myself in for that.
* Actually I'm not at all surprised. I've known since first seeing your images here.
This is cracking Mick, very graphic and suits the mono well.
Although it has made me feel a touch faint as I can't see any orange in it whatsoever. ![]()
Andy
Excellent shot Mick, great composition, I love the lines and shadows, very definitely a 20 / 20 IMHO
Hugh
Delightful composition Mick - lovely strong contrasting b/w - gets my UA too
Helen
Strong shapes and lines, Mick, a strong graphic image, but no place for rust there though.
Dave
I'm Looking still looking alas no rust well well well time for change time to see the talent without the rust, good angles good tones, very well captured CC sometimes leave a lot to be desired after all it's just another persons likes or dislikes, yuo are right TAKE ME TO THE BAR , before and after the meeting now that's a better night out, cracking shot Mick
John
Mick does b&w! This is superb, and clever, with diagonals hitting the bottom two corners just perfectly to support the composition.
I had a rusty card lined up for your birthday, maybe I should look for something cool and linear instead?
No, on second thoughts, it's Rusty Mick that we know and love...
Moira
First-class photography, Mick, and in excellent mono too.
Quote: something cool and linear
Something curvaceous and warming would be equally suitable, I think; but unlikely in mid-November . . .

What did the judge deduct points for?
Congratulations on 17/20.
Well, he wasn't using a proper camera, was he? he wasn't using the latest big-beast must-have, whizz-bang SRL that all the boys have. But Oh! wait a minute, he's produced a really good top-notch shot (a lot of head-scratching) how did he do that then?![]()
Great shot, Mike (even with the G11). Lovely lines and great conversion. Sorry I can't vote as I don't agree with the system. But I'm sure my praise is worth more?
A super bit of mono work here, Mick, great capture of lines and angles here - it should have been the winner in your competition!
Has to be my Fave Of The Day, well deserving of the Awards, and think I might just have to part with mine here too...![]()

Well I'll give you 20 out of 20 for this one Mick, VERY nicely taken shot, and brilliant in Mono.

Quote: Now we're seeing the real talent of Mike!
That is a cracker - wonderful shapes, patterns, shadows, tone and light.
What did the judge deduct points for?
Congratulations on 17/20.
I think you should show us more of your work at least once a week?

Yes Yes Yes more please![]()
I would never have guessed this was yours, Mick.
I never doubted that you had a photographic talent, and now and again you even show us some arty-farty rust, but this is something else. So why do you save such images for the camera club and deny us the pleasure of such?
Perhaps it's because we expect to see rust and grot from you, it's a sort of mikbee trademark.
The awards speak volumes, and I hope they speak to you and your hidden talents too.
Great shot Mick, i recall you posting a shot of these stairs before!
It's always nice to see you shooting something other than rust & grott now and again although i take nothing away from your keen eye and skill for spotting and capturing them.
Camera club eh......not for me mate, though i'm tempted by the promise of it finishing with a pint or two ![]()
Ricky
Wonderful lines, composition and shadows in this architectural image. A fine geometrical study that is worth more than 17/20. You are at the top of your game tonight Mick
Superb Mick - wonderful, excellent architectural shot. You are full of surprises ![]()
Anne
Next time I'm stuck for a title, I will check with you first ![]()
Well done with all these awards Mick - very well deserved ![]()
