Nuthatch ( sitta europaea )
Managed to catch this Nuthatch today attacking the meal worms like they were going on ration. Swallowing them down just as quick as he could and you can clearly see the last one sliding down his throat very nicely . I would say dont look large view unless you have the light on !!!. Not a pretty sight.

Thankl you all so very much for the lovely response to the Flower Power Bluey. I do appreciate it.

Ron

What time did you get there then, must be my mealworms I left...lol
Tell him I want it back...too late down the hatch
Like the pose and square on Ron and cracking timing. The light looks so different from mine first thing, spooky same perch and probably the same bird, this is amazing.

Hi Ron, I know I don't spend as much time on this site as I used to but everytime I come back and view your portflio it gives me another reason to return at a later date. A stunning set of images as always. This is absolutely fabulous and has to be viewed large to appreciate the amount of detail that you have captured (including the meal worm in its final throes). I hope the "model" was thankful for the free meal.

You should see it here right now Ron. In Central Texas, the live oaks take on a life of their own. First they drop leaves, then they drop catkins, then the caterpillars come, hanging and swaying from their threads, and along with them the birds. Ecstasy is the only word that can describe the eating/gorging going on!
A fab image.

Wow what stunning timing! I love the fact that his tongue is sticking out, he looks like he is yelling for something! Yet again Ron, a stunning image, worthy of more accolades than the few it has gained so far. Have my award Smile

Superb timing Ron and great detailed Nutty capture, though the disappearing mealie worm does make me feel very slightly queasy - bit like "I'm a celebrity, get me out of here" when they have to eat those disgusting tidbits!! LOL
