... or should it be multi-tasking - smoking and paddling his own canoe.
A fisherman on Lake Inle (Burma/Myanmar). The classic shot would be having him cast the net whilst using the paddle with his leg. Alas, not to be, he was on a smoke break, and I was in a boat going the other way! The poles in the background anchor those floating gardens to the lake bed. The light was harsh and the guy's face was very shaded. I've lightened it a bit but any more looks too false. And yes, I know, I've cut off the pointy end of the boat, I was bouncing up and down a bit in our boat ![]()
A super response to my Arches image, thank you very much, especially the UA donors whom I have thanked personally (well, by PM actually
).

Fantastic shot Dave, excellent composition and very nicely captured, boats do tend to move when you dont want them too, as I have found in the past ![]()

You are making me wish I could go to Burma. Great shot
Another masterpiece from this very interesting country Dave.

Trev.
Contrast handled very well again, the waves make a great lead in and the background poles link in well with his paddle and net. I don't think the face looks artificial, more like the light is reflected on to it. You probably feel the way you do because you know what you did to it! ![]()
The mist creates a lovely sense of depth and distance to the image. Nicely captured with the oar at a diagonal. Also very much like the wave action in the water.

And doing a balancing act too, the way he's perched on the end of that boat!
A superb shot, Dave ![]()

A lot to learn about Burma/Myanmar from your pictures. This is a awesome picture with a nice composition.

Reading the conditions you did well here. It's strange how images from foreign lands always have that extra something too to fire our wunderlust. Like it !
Wow, you actually managed to hire a boat!
could have done with one at times in Malaysia but then the rivers flow very fast, so how do you get it back.
and yes it is a wonderful capture!
