It is a subject that has been done too many times already, and though you have made a decent attempt, it somehow just misses the mark.
I really like the shot. The tones are superb and the way the eyes are highlighted just perfect. The only thing IMHO that loets it down is the left side, all grey and blank. I would mercilessly crop that left side, possibly toi a square format, and you are left with a classic black and white image. In fact an even tighter crop that cuts much of the shadow area of the head, where there is no detail, also works well.
