A dark and dismal afternoon, but the moss on these old logs shone out as if fluorescent. And the contrast with the brown leaves on the beech sapling appealed to me

You have summarised the shot very well, Patrick, and I agree that the moss encrusted fallen trees contrast so well with the bleaker and more sterile looking forest beyond.
