Where's the Snakes, Then?

This picture brought back to me a game we used to play as kids at Christmas. In those WWII years a board game, a paint box and an orange were about all one got in one's Christmas stocking, and perhaps a bar of chocolate if you were lucky!

The picture was taken on an industrial building site in the 1960s.
