This was taken at the Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney. It conveniently stretched up and started licking the upper rail of the enclosure. I cloned that out and am happy with the result. I also tweaked contrast and saturation.
In Africa, I had the most amazing experience with a giraffe. The porter was trundling all my luggage down to this huge tent I was to sleep in and I was bogged down with the little stuff and the keeper said 'Mind the ...' but I couldn't hear what he'd said, so turned around and was just amazed to nearly crash heads with this massive giraffe. It started getting really frisky like horses can - apparently it does this to the tourists in hope of getting a treat. It was just ambling along in the same paddock as us - I hadn't heard its approach as the luggage thing was noisy. I feel so lucky to have had such a close up experience like that with such a magnificent creature and actually when I went off to sleep, it was with the sound of the lions roaring - another childhood dream ...and I had the best sleep!
