With my last upload I was unsatisfied with the amount of noise, with thanks to 'banehawi' (Willie) I was introduced to the 'Median' blur tool in Photoshop Elements 9. So here is a before and after of the same lily! Smile

Lovely shot !!!.......I've tried the 'Median' blur tool in PSE8, but as the minimum setting is 1 pixel, I find it too vicious !!!, though I suppose you could
reduce the opacity of the layer, to compensate ?......plus the fact it's 'global', so softens everything, & needs the 'Erase' tool, or a layer mask to bring
back the sharp areas......worth trying though, to see the effect !!

It got rid of the noise quite well. Now all you need is to sharpen the tops of the stamens!

The obvious answer is to eliminate the noise in the first place Karen.
Unfortunately that is up to you and your camera settingsSmile

Just my humble opinionTongue

Thanks Edmund and Dave! Smile

Edmund: It was a comment I deserved! Grin I should have used a tripod, I should have used better lighting/reflectors - I think we all know what we should be doing (it was just laziness on my part)! Wink

this one and yesterdays are lovely shot. IMHO in version 1 you got rid of a lot of detail in the stamen. In case you are to worried about the noise, just blur and reduce it buy 50 % and mask of all the detail that is important.
Yes, I never have time to do it either. So I just leave the noise and leave it to Walter find it Smile

Another really great composition. I wonder if there is a little motion blur here, though, as that centre of the flower isn't as sharp as your previous upload - I see that the shutter speed was 1/60 but it could still have jiggled slightly. That could be why the blur/sharpen isn't working as well as it might. Just a tiny bit more light would really help things.
