This the caterpillar of the Owl butterfly. My daughter spotted this one, it was clinging to a Banana tree leaf and looked just like a furry slug! (This is about life size!). The black dots you can see along its back were in fact little tufts of hair.

I took this shot with my S3, and version 2 (a close up of its head) with my SX240 (the zoom is better on that one!).
