Autumn has come and the Beech is throwing down its leaves - very beautiful they are too. The whole area down by the pond is covered with an orange covering (all the leaves on the pond have been blown down the other end).

I love this old tree. At one time it grew in a hedge with a trackway behind it..............the hedge is long gone but still the tree grows, its roots providing holes and shelter for many creatures. In fact, if you go around the other side of the tree you will find some 'Fly Agaric' and a 'Gnome'! Wink (My sister's Christmas present to us last year. I hid them down there for Albyn to find! Grin).

Edit: Whilst I'm uploading, I've uploaded a 'version'. Does anyone know what on earth this is? Yes, I know it's a snail. Very small, under 2cm long. I spotted it in the bark of an Ash tree - just this one. Nowhere near the pond!

I think v2 is a snail of some sort, I've seen similar ones to this in ponds, I don't know what is doing on dry land unless something has dragged it out of the pond!
