This one nearly didn't make it - I've done a lot of work in the background. For some reason the thistle head next to the butterfly was really over exposed (white!), so I decided to replace that area.
The green insect below the Small Copper is a Potato Capsid and on the right is a Ladybird (either a 16-spot or a Harlequin), I didn't seen either 'friends' until I put the image on the computer!

A touch of sharpening would be the icing on the cake Karen,
John.
Hi Karen
As stated three for one, love the composition and tones, I have uploaded a Mod for you! Just added light under the wing and used High Pass Sharpening.
Regards
Trev.
sorry for being late, what a nice club meeting in the garden, well done
A splendid close up of this small copper butterfly, the details and colours are excellent. I like the two little critters getting in on the act
Another amazing shot, just fantastic so much going on. How cute is the butterflys face
Thank you for your kind comment on my Abbey shot! I love butterflies and have about 30 species on my Flickr photostream [dave091260]. These Small Coppers are among my favourites - lovely shot!
