Not as good as some, but I had to share - my first sighting of The Herald. Such a beautiful moth. I was getting all the cobwebs off my log basket (yes, it's that time of year again), making sure there were no nasty surprises coming indoors with it, when out fluttered a 'dead leaf'.

It sat on a very wet path shivering, so after running in and fetching my camera I offerred it a finger, which it quickly crawled onto. After a few more seconds it took wing and I didn't see it again. I'm a bit disappointed with the image, because of the blurred wings, but I'm still pleased I caught it.

Version 2 is equally blurry because of it shivering, but it shows its lovely little stripped legs!

fancy disturbing it from it's hibernation place, shame on you! Grin They shiver in order to warm up and take to the wing....

Thanks everyone!

That's it Ade, make me feel guilty! Wink (Actually, I read in my book they fly from August to November, so I'm sure he'll find a lovely cosy nook somewhere in the log shed before then!) Smile
