One from a series I'm working on.
No textures were harmed in the making of this still life.

Now there's a name I've not seen in a long while. Hope things are going well Keith
My kinda thing Mr H,love the old books, they have such great textures of their own you need no further additions ![]()
I want that candle holder & that there bottle looks a bit special !!
Nice subtle lighting Keef, the arrangement of reds works very well for me.
You need to print this one !
So you finally got round to doing it.
This is sheer quality, the Chiaroscuro lighting emminating from the candle is to die for, the key book titles placed just right (Didn't know you were that cultured). The deep velvet red texture from the old English Rose, I could go on and on. Reminds me very much of some of the old masters paintings from Pieter Claesz.
Only one thing I'm not sold on at first viewing, is the placement of the photo, just looks a little too staged. That said its one of those images I will probably come back to and have a different view.
This is probably one of your best ever works - although maybe not the vote catcher of some others in your portfolio.
Not bad for "a bloke with a camera" ![]()
..Oh and shortlisted, and will have to take something very, very special to beat it.
Thanks for UA, Mum. I have even better candle holder. You can't have that one either. ![]()
I know what you mean about the photo, Nick and it was the element of the composition that I spent most time mooching over. Best? Don't know as I consider this to be enroute to better....fingers crossed.
Cheers you lot

..Well if you've got better to come they must be something else. The photo would look good in a Georgian locket. Makes me want to sell the camera as I could only aspire to producing something of this quality.
Really beautifully lit Keith. If I'm really looking hard for suggestions to make I do tend to agree with Nick on the placement of the photo as a minor point. I love the quality of the specular highlights on the books though and reflection in the desk.
BTW - I subliminally registered the old book to the right of the candle as being an antique book on 'The World Wide Web' before the more conscious part of my brain finally went 'hold on' and went back for a second look ![]()
Looking forward to seeing more.
Quote: I may well post more
Hope so Keith!
This is utterly brilliant. So good to see something from you after a long absence...![]()
Didn't have time to comment last night, as I only saw this on my phone - it blew me away then! Just oozes quality...
