Bullrushes

Bullrushes by hedison

The Bulrush, or Reed Mace as is known in the UK, has distinctive shapes. A spot I know has seen them battered over the last few years and this year will be no different. Working in B&W helps to make them dramatic.

Foggy Trees at Darley

Foggy Trees at Darley by ade_mcfade

One of those B&W images that somehow work better as a print than on a screen.

Reflections

Reflections by doverpic

There is no colour to speak of that would lead me to treat this as B&W.
It has all the elements for an interesting image in monochrome..

Reflect some light on the bottles with a simple reflector.
Take a viewpoint from the other side.

On The Tunnel

On The Tunnel by arhab

This has grown on me after several views.

That figure in the foreground grabs your attention as do the other figures.

There are technical issues that can be rescued to a degree.

Should the opportunity arise it would be well worth while taking more shots noting how the light is reflecting off the water that can fool even the best of camera meters.

I have done a mod using some tweaks in LR4 squeezing what detail there is in the background at the top half of the frame.

Journal deux

Cropping the base improved this for me.
Excellent use of lighting on an ever so simple set up.

Old Hall, Dalmally

Old Hall, Dalmally by GeorgeBuchan

Best buiding in Dalamaly, for a camera that is.
Done it myself but not sure about it being the old Hall as that is up by the rail station built in the same manner but difficult to photograph.
The "Hall" in question has a history that is somewhat mystical.

Such a shame that they had to add that hideous fire escape.

An Old Shed

An Old Shed by myrab

It all looks so strange to be added to a former building that tempts me to describe it as an entrance porch.
I would have been tempted towards a B&W image although the colour does work.
Sharpness has suffered for some reason.

I stand alone.

Thank goodness they left it.
Would make a great print on the wall, large of course.

And how different it would be in colour.
My inclination would lean towards a darker sky and a trim at the bottom.
It would be on my list for a big print.

Pub Grub

Pub Grub by p12owe

Very much my kind of subject with or without the homeless figure.
The number of times I find such buildings that are marked for a visit then find them demolished and gone.

Iris

Iris by Nikonuser1

Very effective where I have a liking for plants that are `past their best`
Toning is subjective although I err towards the warmer tone for this subject.

LR4 + Silver Effex is a magic combination.

Rusty Roof

Rusty Roof by netta1234

I rather think if you were to dig deeper as to to its original use would reveal that it was or
they, were cottages.
The roof may well have been stone slabs that over time collapsed under the weight.
Cheap and easy tp use corrugated iron saved them for storage by the farmer.

I am thinking windows Wink

I spotted some in Glencoe village that as far as I could see are all that remains of its past.
My curiosity was to see what the other side revealed but failed to find any access.

Decay

I see many of these that strangely have no skull
