What a very cool shot - the lighting is spot just enough to pick out the spider detail. Like the slightly threatening but featureless bg which serves to really set the subject up.
Superb recession and stunning early morning feel, nicely caught - those sort of early morning grey and bronze tones before colour really gets a proper hold of the day. Nice boat - looks to me like a Westerly - Fulmar?
How can anyone pass this image without leaving a comment or a vote. Great juxtposition between the aging leaves and the pristine (looking) fence - which provides such a wonderfully strong lead in - I defy anyone to resist it. But think about its starting position - could it have been even stronger running in from the bottom right corner - and ask is the fg adding that much anyway?
This is a great image - and I like all the variants - its the layers of colour that are really especially good I think. But do yourself a favour and give the image a background colour that sets up the colours in the image rather than working against them (Black, white or grey would all have worked so much better IMHO).
This is quite beautiful - but I think you may have over enhanced the red highlights on the wave tips - especially in the mid ground. As a general rule I think the highlights should become more subdued as you go deeper into the image - here they tend to stay with the same intensity. Otherwise I love this simple shot its a sumptious comp.
Really super image - for me all the boats seem to be pointing up-hill this is perhaps only because they are at an angle to your position but it does make the image look a little 'uphill' or 'wonky'. Sometimes it is worth playing with the horizon corrector on your software - even if the original is correct.
Stunning sunrise - the trouble is for me it looks like a sunrise over a garden centre - why should that matter and truth is it doesn't - when faced with such a beautiful sunrise. But I might have been tempted to go out and try and find a spot beyond the car park - but hell you were on holiday who wants to get up early then!!.
Crop lhs to take the tree away from the central point was my first thought - but looking at it clearly you intended this paricular comp. Otherwise well worked exposure to give you heaps of blurry water which I think works well. Pretty good dof so setail is still nice and sharp mid image and the tree is a nice touch (even if for me it is in teh wrong place!!). Excellent and highly accomplished stuff
Well this is an interesting shot - all the action in the bottom quarter but saved by that wonderful lantern (but you need to be careful with your post production work - if it shows it hasn't worked!) breaking skyward and the fir tree too.
Shame about the fielders arm - but a nice shot good timing (you and the batsman) interesting that the batsman is not watching the ball and he is not rolling his wrists to keep the ball down. So if you were a cricket coach this shot could be quite useful.
Am I missing something fundamental here - fantastic sunset and beautiful seascape and all but is there an 'elephant in the room'?
This is a smashing shot my only issue is the slight competition between the interesting fg shapes of the stile and the distant sunset - there are almost two images here but good and both demanding to be viewed. Difficult to know how to join them up but I wonder if you had lowered the pov you might have created a more joined up image (don't get me wrong I still really like this)
Cool image - thiings I like = strong diagonal lead in to horizon, excellent coulour balances and some good contrasting textures. The image is detailes and sharp with a good dof.
I really like the colours here - but (and I have checked my monitor calibration) it is just a little dark. I think it is an image worth spending a littl etime with in PS or whatever software you are using. If possible it needs a little lightening and push the contracst a little too I think.
This should be a powerful piece of work and it is for sure. But it has the feel of being stage managed (I am sure it wasn't) which sort of works against it, for my anyway.
