The Russians are coming by KevSB

The Russians are coming

Thanks for that Ron, The group use the title Grob so that's where i get it from, I imagine they do so as its historically correct from the German perspective, ill ask about that

Moving Fast

Thanks all, Spent the time getting the image perfectly straight horizon, then decided the tilting horizon gave it that took in haste look.

Quote: One wonders how far these guys take it, do they learn the language as well?

For orders when marching ect they use German commands as it fits better with the betrayal, but talking to the public and when relaxing normal just like you and me, cost wise to give you an example each has about 1500 quid in kit and equipment on them, Its not a cheap hobby, the larger NG on the tripods cost in excess of 5 grand.

Quote: Another cracker of a capture ( whisper, why has that officer stuck his sword through his own skull? Wink )

Looks that way doesn't it, did not notice, I have to assume its going through the loose fur/bearskin or its hot and he needed ventilation lol, I will look at the raw later

Saving Private shultz by KevSB

Saving Private shultz

Thanks All, when I was cropping this I found myself wanting to crop it in perfect rectangle format with level horizons, the more I see this now it does add an extra depth to the picture. just goes to show that we need to change how we do things sometime.

'End of the Line'

looking at this I took mine at the same moment to your left sarah, I know you said you wanted to go to victory show, but have you tried Kelmarsh Festival of history, you may like that as it covers lots of periods, Its the main show in the uk, http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/events/history-live-kelmarsh-20-jul/

Rifles by KevSB

Rifles

Thanks Sarah, I tried it in black and white, not sure if its me but sometime making everything black and white doe not always work, Full colour looked good also. so as a compromise I merged both to try and achieve a gritty feel but retain the colour that was so important in this period.

Wedding Shoot, Shanghai style. by DRGW497

Wedding Shoot, Shanghai style.

the chap with the camera in shot is doing video, so its quite possible this is promotional video being filmed, that involves lots of waiting round for various reasons, Possibly a u tube camera video or something and not a real wedding at all

'BANG' by Sezz

'BANG'

nearly impossible to get the best moment even in burst mode, as its 1 fraction of a second when its like this, glad you got some good shots sarah, I sat next to this canon during the battle when it went off, with ear protectors in and outside the danger cone obviously, It knocked me back against the tree the shockwave was so strong. Its not used a lot due to the cost of firing and im told unlike the normal 3LB canons used a shotgun licence is not enough for this 6lb gun and lots of permits needed, 37 quid just gone up in smoke paid btw.
Hopefully next year you will get a full day and if I am around will arrange some sessions for you.

Full Steam Ahead by Nick_w

Full Steam Ahead

Stunning Image, I find it strange how we look back at this wonderful scene with alls its drama and paint a wonderful picture of the past, The reality is that it was dirty, Smelly and Noisy Compared to the modern Equivelent, But Maybee thats what attacts us to it. Thankyou for sharing

Quote: evokes a strong emotion rather than just looking pretty!

Natasha

Im unsure what My oppinion is in regards the Finished article as im set in my ways now and very hard to change that, but I do have an open mind, if i was to mark on Technical Merit then this would be a failure.

For challenging the bounderys then this is quite good,I do like the fact you made me think about what im seeing, Its not pretty as you say but does make me look twice, So easy to go the classic route of following all the routes and formulas of Photography or doing something like this which sets you apart from the million of us who do Pretty Pictures.

Well done for challenging the bounderys

would have liked to see some detail just showing through on the left, at the moment it appears just as half a photo, possibly the waterline fading into the left side
