In the fog of war a member of the 41st foot Mans a Cannon during the Battle of Detroit, This weekend saw cardiff castle dramatise the story of the 41st foots first battle honour in the American war of 1812, actors and reinacters told the story of the opening days of the war.

The united states declaired war on great Britain and empire, Hoping for the canadians to welcome annexation by the USA they believed it would last 4 weeks and canada would be part of America, Britain busy fighting Napoleon in Europe sent limeted resources and the war went on until peace was agreed nearly 3 years later.
Britain claimed to have won this as The americans did not achieve any objectives.

The Americans claimed to have won as they defeated the british army heavilly in the battle of new Orleans, Unfortunetly peace had been agreed 1 month earlier by both sides but the message had failed to reach the armys in the field.
It was dUring this period that we burned what became the white House.

Thankyou all, Im not sure Black and white suits this period as the redcoats which is a powerful symbol, lost as in this case the english flag flying in the background, but what I did want to bring home is the fog of war that the smoke creates more pronounced, Removing the colour for me did that, and hopefully isolates this single person on a cluttered battlefield. and giving a feeling that you are in the middle of the action.
