Quote: Quite enjoying this little series your working on at the moment Kev, although I do wonder if they'd be more effective as mono/B&W images, just an idea of course.....
Ade
Always a difficult one for me Ade, when I come back from events, I tend to have large quantitys that the guys want to share so its a quick crop, sharpen and post 300 pics on flikr. The smaller percentage like these that I personally like I always have a conflict, Am I recording living historiens recreating history or recreating history.
WW2 groups much prefer period looking images and in this case the leader of the group is a graphic artist by day and has the skills to know when a picture is 100 percent accurate and his ps skills are excelent so ive passed a copy of all the pics to him as I have total trust in his morals and skills, Like every Hobby The lving history community can be very picky as in photography forums and persons("Stitch counters") will go out to find the wrong button on a coat ect so Neil has the skills to weed out which ones Ive caught some thing that shouldent be in the images.
An example I cought some images of the lads bringing weapons up to the trench area and looked stunning in the picture as they strolled along in the snow, it was soon pointed out that the gun was 1 year older than the senerio Theme by someone not in attendence, so removed it to so not to discredit the group who go to great lenghs to be accurate.
for that reason I keep them mainly in colour.
This is a bit special, a great shot with a very cinematic feel, it really feels like being taken back 60 years. This deserves and award or 2 from the site but yet again another gem is overlooked. I can honestly say hand on heart that this is a shot i really wish i had taken. Superb work very well done. I would love to link to this from facebook if that is ok with you ?
