The The "California 100"
2nd Massachusetts Cavalry, Company "A" rally to the flag During the Battle of "Sheffield Fayre" under cover of members of Company E of the 1st United states sharp shooters.
Wanted to give the cavalry an appearance so so dug out this older photo from last season.
Anyone wanting to try this type of photography couldest go wrong at this event, the arena is built in a natural dip in the ground so access for photographers is great, the show is an all period event so opportunity s from romans to modern times and to top it off its free of charge apart from a small parking fee.
held in August at Sheffields Norfolk park
To see the American civil war society in action which is a very large reenactment group the next event will be at Sewerby Hall, North Yorkshire at the end of May

Came here from the forum as well. That's very good work. I'd like to see more of this before and after stuff. I'm sure it would help people to progress. One question though - if you work in raw at what point do you say this is the before shot? These days there is a lot done before you can get to the point of uploading here.

What a belting shot, I came here from the before and after forum thread and glad i did, a touch of noise, convert to b/w and sepia a classic, great depth to this.
Love what you've done in V1, it's both more immediate, physical and more story-book in style.Very subtle use of vignetting.

Thank you all
I have been experimenting with photometric Lite and tone mapping which lifts the colors and detail and give a little texture from a raw negative, altho this Leaves it with a little over the top painted feel, so then I copy the original back over the top and blend the two.
After that I flatten and do everything we would normally do, burn, saturation gradients ect
V2 is converted from raw to jpeg in ps with no alterations
