Not sure if this is sharp enough to be worthwhile. Opinions would be appreciated.

Sharpness isn't everything. It's a fine image with good composition, depth of field, colour and interest. It's pleasing to look at and has enough detail, we don't need to see every whisker on his chin![]()
Well done.
Nice composition and pleasing shot. Sufficiently sharp in my opinion

Hello, Lesley. This is such a colourful and well-composed image, with a good subtle background, a real delight to view. I took it into my editing programme so that I could have a much closer look, and to find out why you are concerned about its sharpness (my eyes aren't that good, lol). I have to admit that some of the flowers are sharper than the butterfly, but it can't have been easy to get everything here in good focus as well as having a blurred background, so your control of depth-of-field is good overall. You don't give your camera settings, and it would have been helpful to see them. I would suggest that a slightly smaller aperture/higher f-stop would have enabled everything to be in better focus, especially the wings of the butterfly. The flower on the far right is sharp, but not the wings far left, so the shallow dof has been centred more on the right side. The alternative would have been to focus on the butterfly and to have some of the flowers out of focus, but I feel that you already know that this would have been preferable. Having said all of that, I certainly wouldn't bin it, it is far too attractive for that. By the way, the foreground out-of-focus leaf is the only little niggle that I have about the picture, but you wouldn't have been able to move it away without disturbing the butterfly.
Pamela.
Thank you everyone for your comments. Pamela, I shot at f/5.6 at 1/250 sec. I was worried that if I used a smaller apperture the shutter speed would be too slow to stop movement. I actually wish I had used fully automatic, may have achieved a better result. I still have a lot to learn about making the right decisions according to the photographic situation. A couple of the flowers were really out of focus so I have cloned a couple. Surprised no one mentioned that! Or perhaps they did and are too polite to say! Thanks again.
Oh, crikey, it's obvious now you mention the cloning.....must get some new specs, lol. I suppose it's because I just didn't expect to be looking for cloning. VERY well done !
