The last rays of the day by CarolAnnLauderdale

The last rays of the day

Without the light the images would a little flat, however the lights lifted the image.
For me not quite a wall hanger but a nice well composed image .

Tower Bridge, massive crowds ,we did a recce in afternoon and lowlights shots 6 pm were the best. No chance of a tripod till an hour after last post, reading of the names (4.30 ish)
Parked in the Arches (Garages like Eastenders) ,pull into a shabby gate ran by some Europeans ,park in a dark tunneled arch ,walk to cabin at main gate and pay £6 for all day parking. Gate is in line with Tower Bridge and behind the London Mint.

A Gaggle of Goslings ??? by PhilT2

A Gaggle of Goslings ???

Nice compact image,

imho --now you`ve got the Nikon (I started on Fuji S2,S3 S5 now moved to Nikon )

Shoot in Raw to get most detail in the shot ,you can always lose detail but can`t add it afterwards..
Use spot metering when isolating a subject . The focus in this shot is across several birds,if it was on one in particular say the one with the drip on its beak ,your eye would be brought into that point and then out to the other subjects.
If taking landscape or images that have lots of points of interest, focus 2/3 rds of the way in with a broad aperture to get everything in focus.

Manual settings if possible. Gives the best control (with practice)

Hope this helps

Dead Vlei, Soussevlei, Namibia by Matt2012

Dead Vlei, Soussevlei, Namibia

A good attempt at a iconic shot.
It`s normal not to break the horizon but i really like the way you`ve done so here.

Cot Crimson by jhw

Cot Crimson

Nice low angle and lead in. The horizon is curved (I know) but a little perspective adjustment will straighten it.
I see you used multi segment focus....I tend to use spot focus and focus at an interest point between a third and 2 thirds in to the image .
This allows a better focus through the whole of the image and you might lose the softness as you go into the image.

Love this location ---but always seem to git bit around my ankles by sand flies.
