The aquaduct just up my road proved to be too tempting to escape unnoticed one recent evening .....

Recently restored to its former glory and now also floodlit, this beautiful piece of architecture dates back to the early 16th century and served as an important source of water supply for the garrisoned Knights of St. John in the fortified capital, Valletta.

What life must have been like in those days around these parts leaves me pondering .....

Perfect exposure and great perspective. Like the contrast between the front of the aqua-duct and the arches.

Fantastic sense of perspective

I saw one of these aquaducts last May in Portugal--- Found the whole idea very fascinating-- Atleast "they" knew where their water was coming from!
