Another one from the stream at the back of Dave's Hostel. I was tempted to remove the branch from the falls but then decided it added something. And besides, the branch was twenty feet long and attached to a dead stump!

Zoom used for a tight composition - comments welcome.

for me, the branch is fighting against the composition....the falls I love for their almost monochromatic starkness

Excellent moody shot of that beautiful waterfall, but I can't make up my mind on the wooden pole cutting across the fall.

Thanks for the feedback. I really quite like this but that may have more to do with the memory of the shoot and location. As for the branch, I guess there's no connection with the background, so I can see that it doesn't quite fit.

I think the close crop is what is causing the conflict between branch and background, the further out you go the more the branch fits in. Still, you've caught excellent detail and light, you can feel the slickness of the wood and texture of the stone.

But there again, I was there too so my judgment is coloured by memory. :0)

Unsure about the branch - if only it did not obscure the falls as the line of the branch mirrors the falls for me. I like the contrast and depth that is added by the branch and it is one of the more interesting fall shots for me as they tend to be a bit samey for me. I like the contrast of light and dark, texture of smooth water against bark, monochromatic against colour and overall I like it. Cheers, Martin

I like the shot, Ed, but the branch is a bit of a minus for me.

Hey Ed, the branch looks great in this! If only I had got a shot of you attempting to remove the other stick, but you were too quick for me! ;o)

Thanks for the mod on my falls shot! Looks much better! I see I will have to do some more playing in PS!

Bex

P.S. Remember saying u wished you got a shot of me photographing those mushrooms? I asked Paul as I was suspicious, and he has one! Will upload it as a mod on my next mushroom shot maybe ;o)
