Good afternoon folks....and the sun is out!
This is Dorothy or "Dot" as we call her....She is the Mum of a good friend of mine. I called around to see them today and had to grab a shot of Dot in those pink shoes! Dot will be eighty two next month....and what a charactor she is.She lives in a flat and gets all about town. She is really keen on bright colours and loves jewellery....and of course the finishing touch.... shoes! She even owns a pair of black leather trousers! I hope if I get to her age I am doing as well.
Taken just using window light.
Bet DaveU would like those pink shoes! ![]()
Thanks for stopping by
C&C welcome

what a fantastic picture
and what a fantastic lady,
those shoes wooow
she looks and sounds like a lovely lady
just the sort i would love to be friends with,
i suppose she is what we all hope to be like at her age,
but the reality is of cause we wont be
we will get old fashioned and miserable
good for you Dot, and pleeeease don't ever change,
what does she think of being on the Internet.

What a lovely elegant Lady. The image is superb and you are to be applauded for this capture.
She has such an interesting face and I bet she has so many stories of intrigue to tell.
I love the HDR finish to this.
Very well done.
J
Brilliant work, and well-deserving of awards from two excellent photographers. The HDR is more called for here than HRT!
Lucy
Another fine image Alley - you're on a roll at the moment. Keep 'em coming.
Nick
Great shot, the Photomatix style works very well and adds a extra level of interest.

Quote: When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

This is a perfect illustration for the poem - - perhaps you should contact the publishers ![]()

FANTASTIC! The expression that's challenging with a touch of humour... and then the eye travels down to those awful shoes. It's brilliant. What a character and what a superb portrait. This is fantastic photography.
Amazing shot, Alley. Your observation skills are fantastic! Love this image and the account to go with it! If I had awards to give out, you'd receive one for this!
Tom
Do her toes go right to the end of those shoes!
A cracking photo of a fun lady!
Our granny also has the book with "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple" that Fran has quoted. This certainly fits that poem well.
Fantastic shot Very well deserving of all these awards
Well done. I hope she was delighted with it too.
