i tried some 'shoot from the hip' shots at an event yesterday, first time i've tried it really...very mixed results of course, but some quite interesting to look through later

i don't know what the shadowy figure at the back is about to do, but he/she looks a bit sinister dontcha think?

thanks for looking

Excellent crop and pov Phil.....makes you think a bit this one.

I really like it and would not mind a go at some stuff like this myself.

Great reportage type Imagery Phil & the B&W work is masterfully finished ~ Looks alittle like a confrontation is about to commence?
Are there any sequels as this is good stuff ~ real edge of your seat type photography
Rick

Nice to see something different. Great shot! Well done

The gritty BW conversion suits Phil, and the low down POV works well. That somewhat malevolent looking half face at the back adds a lot to this image.

What strikes me is that they're all looking in slightly different directions. And each is seeing differently.
Shooting from the hip can get quite addictive...

great title for a really strong shot.... excellent!

Jo

edit: you may just have inspired me to have a go too.... i have totally lost mojo/interest lately
i was going to make myself go out with just the 50mm again which i enjoy doing but might be a 'shoot from the hip' trip instead now
cheers Smile

The viewpoint is almost a child's eye view. I had a go myself at the weekend but I haven't looked at the results yet. Far from easy & this works well.

Love the low viewpoint and the triangle of heads (and the hint of the mad axe murderer at the back). You've captured some great detail in the faces and they look as if they're on a mission.
Well done on the EC.

This is simply fantastic - what a great moment of captured expression, and on more than one face....congrats!!

Yeah, as you say you get some interesting results. There is a good mood and intrigue to this shot. It really looks like there is a story behind it.
